SciTech Hands On Museum is a dynamic environment, part children’s museum and part science museum. Our team works together to create a unique experience full of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics). Our mission is to inspire learning through creative, interactive educational programs and activities. Through Hands On exhibits, workshops, lab classes, demonstrations, and interacting with guests, we help people discover science in the world around them.

Lead Teacher

Lead Teachers at SciTech facilitate educational experiences and foster literacy in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related areas. Education Faculty support museum activities on site and at service sites. Lead Teachers report to the Director of Education.

Educational Responsibilities:

  • Lead the facilitation of educational programming including demos, labs, classes, and exhibit interpretation.
  • Guide Associate Teachers, volunteers, and other faculty participating in the learning environment.
  • Co-teach activities as needed.
  • Represent SciTech at events and discuss the opportunities that SciTech has to offer with the public.
  • Engage the public in educational activities during outreach, promotional, and other special events.
  • Organize and support volunteers who represent the SciTech Education Department at events.
  • Deliver Floor Show demonstrations and activities to the general public and scheduled groups.
  • Engage the public in scientific literacy, questioning, and conversation while exploring the exhibits at SciTech.
  • Guide visitors through the operation and interpretation of exhibits as needed.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials and assist with supply management.
  • Report schedule availability regularly to Director of Education.
  • Track hours independently and report hours in the SciTech time clock.
  • Represent SciTech at events and discuss the opportunities that SciTech has to offer with the public.
  • Participate in training as it relates to SciTech programming, teaching methods, and more as appropriate.
  • Complete expense reports for travel and other reimbursements as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High level of interest in STEAM education (science, technology, education, art, and math)
  • Teaching certification (STEAM or other content areas, comparable experience may be considered)
  • Experience facilitating lesson plan activities, programming, or curriculum
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills and flexibility
  • Bilingual is a PLUS!
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team
  • Access to reliable transportation to SciTech and sites that SciTech services

Salary and Benefits: Hourly, part time. Training will be provided.

Executive Director

The Executive Director is responsible for leading the organization through an upcoming period of growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization, ensuring that it is operating efficiently and effectively to meet business goals. This person requires the competencies to lead large- and small-scale change initiatives.

Reports directly to the SciTech Board of Directors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans that meet business goals and objectives created together with the Board of Directors
  • At the request of the board, recruit and develop a team of leaders to manage critical business functions
  • Ensure commitment and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across the organization
  • Create a culture of transparency and communication throughout the organization
  • Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders, including shareholders and Government agencies
  • Proactively address challenges in the internal and external environment to ensure and protect business interests
  • Oversee the daily operations and programming of the museum
  • Develop new funding sources and maintain current levels of funding

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in business administration or related field
  • Previous experience in leadership role
  • Knowledge of museum and business management or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategic plans
  • Understanding of non-profits, financial strategies, and finance-related performance metrics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and relationship development
  • Familiarity with operational procedures at all levels
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset that translates into leadership skills
  • Ability to direct employees to live up to their potential and optimize their productivity
  • Experience with Nonprofit Management

Position:

  • Full-Time salaried position
  • Hours may require evenings, weekends, and special events
