Museum closure opens new doors
After 34 years at 18 W. Benton, the museum is closing its doors. “The pandemic has taught us lessons about the new realities of physical space,” said Nick Scalan, Board President. Instead of a permanent physical space, the museum is transitioning to a STEM education resource, provider, and convener.
Key resources such as Starlab, a portable planetarium, and favorite hands-on curriculum will retained. Faith Slowinski, the Executive Director at SciTech, added, “Right now, we are looking for partners and innovative opportunities to leverage SciTech’s brand and unique assets while strengthening Aurora and the Fox Valley’s STEM network moving forward.”

I had children ranging 3-9 and they all enjoyed it. All the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and very friendly. We will be back!
This place is the best yet for science!! Anyone can always learn. I learned something new today!! Science is amazing!! 🌍💘🌍💘
We can here with our oldest daughter this place is so much fun, They had tons of hands on exhibits. It really is worth while.
Had an amazing time with my 3 and 6 year old, and so did their cousins! Great museum!
It's our second time to be there at SciTech Hands on Museum. My kids (8 and 11) really enjoyed this visit. Every station of the subjects/games has notice/instructions explaining what is it, what to do about it, what to notice, and why. My third grader was more patient this year than last year when she was younger. She would read and follow the notice of the stations of her interests this time and share with us something new she learned!
This is a great place for kids to play at for many ages. The kids will like the science stuff that goes with all the exhibits. The science show we saw was also excellent. It was very interactive with the kids and they loved that.
We just had our daughter’s birthday party at SciTech today. It was such a fun day! The staff are so sweet helpful, and scheduled the whole party so that the kids had fun activities to do. They accommodated our large party and we’re so quick to assist us in whatever we needed. The exhibits and activities at the museum are so cool and informative. We will definitely be back to visit and highly recommend having kids birthday parties here! It was honestly a blast!
I took a camp group of about 75 kids. The staff was helpful, well prepared and flexible. Every kid (ages 3-14) had a blast.
As a teacher, we brought 83 second graders and couldn't have been happier. The students were absolutely delighted by all three levels, the lunchroom and the amazing demo. So many components were addressed, it was the perfect culminating activity for us!
